Yahoo and Microsoft Finally Agree Merger Deal
Thursday, August 6th, 2009
After long anticipation Yahoo and Microsoft have finally decided to join forces in an attempt to pull back some of the online search market share from the Google.

Recently it was announced that Yahoo and Microsoft had agreed a merger deal, many hope this will bring about a serious challenge to Google in the form of offering: Better search results, increased traffic (liberated from Google) and cheaper advertising. Whilst I believe it is still very early days for the joint venture, I too am hoping that something positive will emerge from this partnership.
If you are an adwords customer I would not recommend you start closing your account just yet in the hope that Yahoo and Microsoft will clean up. But what I hope will come from the deal are improvements to that areas where I feel Yahoo and MSN/Bing have always struggled: Customer Service, content advertising, interface usability and better web tools.
Yahoo will be ported over to use Bing’s search results which will limit the major players in the search market to just the two, the 10 year deal looks to be very lucrative as both parties will cut costs and focus on talking a slice of Google $20 billion advertising revenue.
It is still very early days for anyone to come up with predictions on the market, but its one search engine development that every one will be watching closely. Especially to see if Google do lose or gain any search engine market share.
